Does this work for artisans?
Writing and making - are they natural partners?
My plan
I am a learner - a lifelong learner. School is my literal favourite thing of all time. I am that geek. And hand bookbinding has fed this fascination quick effectively. There is A LOT to learn!
This substack
My idea is that I will go to my extensive library of how-to books and make something from one of those books. I will review that project specifically and talk about supplies, how much I enjoyed it, what did I learn from it?
Who would get a kick out of this?
Book arts are insanely popular these days and I hope to help folks find resources that can help them on their learning journey. My idea is that this would be useful to people exploring book arts and the more traditional craft of hand bookbinding. Looking for ideas for a crafternoon? Ideas for a hen party that isn’t a drunken brawl? Ideas for a relaxing retreat weekend? Hate speeding through seemingly endless youtube videos that are 15 minutes longer than they need to be?
What to expect
My goal is to do at least two projects each month from different books and post them on the second and last Friday of the month. These are not complete tutorials but my insights and a lot of photos to keep things interesting. At this stage of my exploration of this platform I will set up only free subscriptions. In future I might offer full tutorials as part of a paid subscription.
